Evacuation and emergency services

If despite all precautions things would go wrong, a variety of facilities and procedures will have to limit the consequences.

Passengers and staff must have ample opportunity to reach a safe place and emergency services must be able to reach the scene quickly and operate properly. Moreover, the train staff has been thoroughly trained to prevent accidents, has been instructed how to deal with calamities and has been prepared for an evacuation.

In the trains, along the track and in the tunnels, there are sufficient safe escape routes. Evacuation paths along the entire route and emergency exits in the track screens and tunnels enable people to quickly leave the scene of the accident and move to a safe location. Thanks to access roads and deployment yards for vehicles of the fire brigade and GGD (Area Health Authorities) and GHOR (Medical Assistance for Accidents and Disasters), the emergency services can be at the scene quickly.
